However, the recent fee hikes have made it difficult for healthcare providers to seek arbitration when they feel an insurer has offered insufficient payment for care. It also seeks to protect healthcare providers who often receive lower than expected payments for their services. The No Surprises Act seeks to protect patients from surprise billing, which occurs when patients are charged an amount not covered by their insurance company. It's an issue requiring immediate attention: according to a Jan 31 TMA press release, the No Surprises Act is driving arbitrary fee hikes while simultaneously limiting provider arbitration recourse with insurers who offer insufficient payment amounts for services rendered. Their fourth lawsuit against these fees could prove critical in protecting healthcare providers - and those they serve across Texas - from surprise billing that pushes mounting expenses onto both parties. With skyrocketing administrative costs threatening healthcare providers ability to offer adequate care for patients, the Texas Medical Association (TMA) has increasingly stepped-up legal efforts in response. No idea what that measure is I have strong doubts, because as much as the Dutch do indeed have a very strong command of English as a second language, we're really not native speakers, and can be very confidently wrong about idiom or pronunciation, even if we may be better at grammar than many native speakers (your/you're their/they're/there could of etc). After the UK I guess? But apparently beating out several native English-speaking countries according to at least one measure. My son (12) has since yesterday started claiming that Netherland has the second highest percentage of English-speakers in the world. The biggest difficulty in learning the Dutch language is that the Dutch instantly switch to English when they notice you're not a native speaker. When I visited Seattle a couple of years ago I was astounded by the street-level dystopia. The cost of living is higher because the quality of life is higher. Speaking of taxes, I feel like I get what I pay for: great (and always improving!) infrastructure, no violence, pervasive poverty, and ever-growing tent cities. Even in the year I bought a house I could complete my taxes by clicking "next" a bunch of times, because all of the numbers were already there. There are no parasitic companies like TurboTax (which should not even exist!). The best part is that almost everything can be done online through websites that do not suck, but when you interact with a human they are firm but fair and always pleasant (my sunny disposition may contribute to this). The "efficient government bureaucracy" is only /relatively/ efficient, but yeah, it's actually less of a hassle as an expat than the Canadian system was as a citizen. Some disadvantages: higher cost-of-living and lower salaries compared to the US narrower variety of consumer products (food, clothing, etc.) available than in the US/UK many say it's difficult to make Dutch friends, especially if you don't speak Dutch (though on the flip side, this effect makes it exceedingly easy to make expat friends) terrain is mostly flat weather sucks compared to California many find the Dutch language difficult to learn in spite of (or because of?) its similarities to EnglishĬanadian living in The Netherlands writing to very much agree with all of this. Some advantages: safety (both in terms of infrastructure and crime) affordable high-quality universal healthcare efficient government bureaucracy fast and easy travel throughout the entire country and to France, Germany and the rest of Europe relaxed attitudes toward dogs compared to the US (generally off-leash friendly and dogs can go into most shops & cafes) Might even be a lower total income tax rate if you're coming from a high-tax state like CA/OR/NY (keyword: 30% ruling). It's even possible to keep paying an income tax rate similar to that of the USA for the first 5 years. It is also surprisingly easy for Americans to relocate here if they are in a tech career (keyword: highly-skilled migrant) or remote-working/entrepreneurial (keyword: Dutch-American Friendship Treaty). In central Amsterdam, the default language may as well be English. The Netherlands may not be an English-first country, but something like 95% of the Dutch speak English, a higher percentage than in Canada(!). “My dad taught us, ‘You are as good as anybody in this town, but you’re no better,’” she said. Despite the social pressure, Johnson always saw herself as an equal and made sure that others treated her as such. Her self-assurance was certainly needed- this period in our country’s history was rabid with sexist attitudes toward women in the work place, and professional prospects were even worse for black women. “A NASA mathematician, Johnson’s computations have influenced every major space program from Mercury through the Shuttle program… Johnson exhibited exceptional technical leadership and is known especially for her calculations of the 1961 trajectory for Alan Shepard’s flight (first American in space), the 1962 verification of the first flight calculation made by an electronic computer for John Glenn’s orbit (the first American to orbit the Earth), and the 1969 Apollo 11 trajectory to the moon,” the White House said in the Medal of Freedom press release. Johnson is a pioneer in American space history. “We’re going to get Mama to the ceremony, if it kills us…We’re renting a van and already have our hotel reservations.” Katherine G. Travel can be complicated for the 97-year-old badass, but her daughter is ensuring that she gets this moment of honor. Supports common video file types and image sequence as input, and export directly to mp4, mov, or image sequence. Includes export presets and batch processing. We work directly with different hardware manufacturers to ensure the software works as fast as possible on your machine.Įasily convert and combine multiple videos from SD to HD, HD to 4k, and much more. (The improved results are worth the increased effort to gather the dataset!) VEAI was trained exclusively on video clips instead of still images. While visual artifacts do exist in VEAI too, they’re mitigated by information derived from multiple frames. Traditional upscaling often causes artifacts. VEAI has been trained to inject real details into your videos, derived from the additional information in multiple adjacent frames, allowing us to deliver superior video enhancement. VEAI is trained to significantly reduce such artifacts. Other video upscaling techniques often create a “shimmering” or “flickering” effect from different processing in adjacent frames. Video Enhance AI creates much more natural slow motion results compared to traditional time interpolation. When you create a slow motion effect, it’s even more important that you generate new frames without stuttering or motion artifacts. Video Enhance AI uses a new approach based on machine learning to “predict” the best intermediate frame between existing ones, which gives you much better results with a wider variety of material. The existing ways to do this (frame blending, optical flow) often look unnatural and jittery especially with moving backgrounds. To increase your video’s frame rate, you’ll need to generate new frames between your video’s existing frames. Increase video frame rate (24 to 60 FPS, 30 to 60 FPS) Video Enhance AI generates new frames that are often indistinguishable from frames captured in-camera, enhancing videos with more natural results. Existing methods like frame blending and optical flow are decades old and produce inconsistent and unnatural results. Introduced in v2.3, the Chronos AI model uses deep learning to increase video frame rate without artifacts. Restore realistic details and remove compression artifacts from old or degraded sources. Naturally restore old videos without adding visual artifacts. Significantly reduces visual artifacts compared to traditional deinterlacing. Use deep learning to convert interlaced videos to progressive while preserving image definition. Minimize flickering and other temporal artifacts caused by frame-by-frame denoising approaches. Remove noise and grain while recovering real detail in your videos. Our video upscaler can convert SD to HD and HD to 4k or 8k while adding crisp and natural video details. Upscale video resolution with detail gathered from multiple frames. Mosley was eventually routed to Vanderburgh County’s mental health court. While writing a letter doesn't provide the instant gratification of email, it's a lovely gift to a friend. While my fourth-grade penmanship teacher might not agree my handwriting is art, writing with a fountain pen offers an intimate expression of feeling for both the sender and the receiver. The feeling of the ink flowing through the nib onto beautiful paper is the feeling of creating art with your words. If you've never written with a fountain pen, try it sometime. I purchased a nice reproduction and beautiful notes on which to write. Unfortunately, I learned the vintage pens are very expensive and beyond my means. I traveled to the Fountain Pen Hospital in New York City, on a sort of pen pilgrimage. The Schaefer pen was gold and black, with a speckled pattern. Not too long ago, I wanted to purchase a vintage 1940s pen like the one my grandmother used. These are treasures, and I cannot imagine how young lovers of today will preserve text messages. The big secret to it was: If you write someone, more than likely he will write you back! I have love letters from my grandfather to my grandmother stuffed in a box somewhere, and I have a small gray box with the letters my future husband wrote me while we lived four states apart. Use a good pen with beautiful ink, and write on thick, porous paper. I had pen pals early, and I learned from my grandmother and mother the fine art of letter and note writing. This intimacy of pen on paper brought your distant one to you in a way no email or text message could. Perhaps he was writing from Vietnam, or college, or maybe he's just a fellow you met at church camp? Ripping the letter open, you first read very fast to get through it, and then the second time you savored each word as if you could make the person appear in the flesh. Is it the same feeling you received as a teenager when you ran to your parents' mailbox to pull out an envelope from a far distant sweetheart? As technology changes the way we communicate, why can't we preserve the elegance and tradition of an earlier era?ĭoes your heart swell when your smartphone alerts you with a buzz that you have an email or a text? "Letter writing is the only device for combining solitude with good company."- Lord ByronAlas, the lonely handwritten letter is falling away, like the fountain pen, ink wells and blotting paper. If you get an error due to a PATH problem when running dtreeviz in your Anaconda environment, it is better to use dtreeviz in the Google Colab notebook environment. Let’s see them in action for both classification and regression datasets.īefore that, you need to install dtreeviz in your Anaconda environment by running the following line of code: pip install dtreeviz The dtreeviz Python package can be used to plot decision trees. Plot decision trees using dtreeviz Python package If you specify format=“pdf”, the graph will be saved as a PDF file. Now, the graph will be saved as a PNG file because we specified format=“png” in the graphviz.Source() function. You can save the figure by running: graph.render('figure_name') The structure of the last decision tree (Image by author) Let’s plot the first decision tree (accessed by index 0) in our random forest model using this method. To avoid this, you have to use the figsize argument of plt.figure to control the figure size. Therefore, the contests of larger decision trees will not be clear. If you’ve already installed Anaconda, you’re all set! This function does not adjust the size of the figure automatically. You do not need to install any special Python package. This is the simple and easiest way to visualize a decision tree. Plot decision trees using _tree() function The 0 represents the first decision tree. Here, index values are ranging from 0 to 99 (both inclusive). Each tree can be accessed from: rf.estimators_ In the above model we built, there are 100 trees. The number of trees in a random forest is defined by the n_estimators parameter in the RandomForestClassifier() or RandomForestRegressor() class. Accessing individual decision trees in a random forest The model is now fitted on “wine data” and can be accessed through the rf variable. The “wine dataset” is available in the Scikit-learn built-in datasets. This model can be used as an input for the above 4 methods. 9 Guidelines to master Scikit-learn without giving up in the middleīuilding a random forest model on “wine data”īefore discussing the above 4 methods, first, we build a random forest model on “wine data”.Train a regression model using a decision tree.Random forests - An ensemble of decision trees.I recommend you to read the following contents written by me as they are prerequisites for today's content. Print decision tree details using _text() function.Plot decision trees using dtreeviz Python package.Plot decision trees using _graphviz() function.Plot decision trees using _tree() function. The following are the 4 ways of visualization of trees that we discuss today. We’ll use sklearn, graphviz and dtreeviz Python packages which make it easy to create visualizations with just a few code lines. Please note that the methods discussed here are also commonly applied to any tree-based model, not just to Random Forests. Today, we'll discuss 4 different ways to visualize individual decision trees in a Random Forest. Random Forests consist of multiple decision trees. The baseline model for any tree-based model is the Decision Tree. This is because those models are well fitted on non-linear data which are frequently used in real-world applications. Tree-based models such as Decision Trees, Random Forests and XGBoost are more popular for supervised learning (classification and repression) tasks. The visualization process is now easy with plenty of available Python packages today. Model visualization allows you to interpret the model. Data visualization plays a key role in data analysis and machine learning fields as it allows you to reveal the hidden patterns behind the data.
